Signs of ‘Heavenly Visitors’
Although loved ones who’ve passed on are no longer physically with us, they are here. They love to hear from us, and are happy to communicate. Becoming aware, and learning to listen, are the first steps. Signs or experiences typical of “hellos from the other side” include:
- Finding a feather, particularly someplace you wouldn’t expect to see one.
- Butterflies—the transformation from cocoon to chrysalis mimics the transformation at death.
- Bees—there are legends about bees carrying souls to the afterlife, and an ancient tradition about “telling the bees” when someone is grieving.
- Dragonflies and other winged creatures, such as birds; especially cardinals, which typically travel in pairs and are believed to be greetings from Heaven
- Flowers, a flower significant to or favored by the deceased; or roses, which are the symbol of St. Therese of Lisieux (you may smell roses)
- Finding coins, such as “pennies from Heaven”
- Seeing a pet stare or react to “nothing”
- Feeling someone brush by, or a feather-light touch
- Smelling a loved one’s perfume or aftershave, a special dish cooking, Grandpa’s pipe
- Hearing “our song” on the radio (often as you’re thinking of him or her)
Here’s your sign . . .
Just as you can ask for an answer to a problem in a dream, you can ask those who have passed to give you a sign of their presence. You’ll be surprised at what turns up!
