How to Spot a Psychic Fraud

Don’t Fall Prey to a Con Artist!

Why does anyone seek a mediumship or psychic reading? Most people are seeking a connection with a loved one who has crossed over. Whether the death was recent or decades ago, a sitter is hoping for closure, a message, and/or confirmation that love goes on. Or maybe she wants to know the future: Is this the love of her life? This is a very vulnerable position in which to put yourself.

Red flags that mean run

However, buyer beware: these red flags are signs you should guard your wallet and run:

You are told that you, your family, or your money is cursed. There is no such thing! Our spirit guides, guardian angels, and family and friends in spirit have only our best interests and well-being at heart.
The psychic or medium makes a dire prediction that something will happen to you, unless you buy this trinket, crystals, or amulet “for protection.”
The person offers to place a curse or “spell” on an ex-partner or enemy.
Also, be wary of any medical, financial investments, or legal advice, unless the person has real credentials.
Even more frightening and a very real threat if you’ve given out any personal information is identity theft.

The con game excalates

Greed is the point of any con. Whatever you think you signed up for, the stakes and costs start mounting. Or they pull the old switcheroo—the stack of cursed hundreds or heirloom pearls you brought in for “cleansing” or “clearing” is switched or disappears.

Don’t fall for it! Get up and leave or hang up. If ever in doubt, ask yourself if your loved one would want you to do this. Fraud is a serious crime; identity theft can ruin your credit and make your life a nightmare.
